Tug for DA40 NG
I am new to this forum so please have patience as I learn to navigate
I am taking delivery in April of a new DA40 NG and was wanting to know what is the best tug to use for this model?
I prefer a remote if anyone has experience with one.
Thanks

Re: Tug for DA40 NG
It's really helpful to use the search function built into DAN, or even better, search DAN with Google specifying diamondaviators.net as a domain filter. Here is a good thread on tugs:

Re: Tug for DA40 NG
My club purchased a BEST TUG model A2. It does a great job getting the airplane back in the hangar (slight uphill) and is very maneuverable. We have used it on DA40 XLS and DA40NG airplanes.

Re: Tug for DA40 NG
Unfortunately, hangar spec in the ATL area is scarce. So, I’m on the ramp. My spot is on the edge, so, when my neighbor is tied down I can’t pull into my space. That requires me to back the plane in. I weigh about 162. I lean on the tail, raise the nose, and walk it back. Not perfect, but it’s relatively easy and “tug less”. If I have a passenger they push on the wing and it’s super easy.

Re: Tug for DA40 NG
For training purposes, both our Diamond and Cessna have wheel pants removed. We contacted them and told them what we operate, and they set up tug for our applications.

Yes, they can configure the tug to work with a DA40 and wheel pants. I have had mine for 5 years and it works great to back the plane into 40’ hanger door opening.

Re: Tug for DA40 NG
FWIW I wasn't able to make the AC tug work if you need to pull the plane out of an indent in, say, a tiedown spot, or up a small asphalt ledge. I really wanted it to work though!
