Parts Delays and Diamond Supplier Issues?
Curious if anyone else is stuck AOG waiting on parts from Diamond or hearing about supplier issues? I've been waiting on a replacement turbo since January and am now hearing that it'll be mid-April before it ships. Sadly, it's my second turbo since purchasing the plane in December since the one installed following the pre-buy inspection started leaking heavily within the first 10 hours in January.
Given all the MSB work that so many are facing, I shouldn't be complaining about 2.5 months AOG, but it's still frustrating. I really hope Diamond works this all out and there is a stable, healthy foundation to support us all going forward.
And please let me know if you have any suggestions to expedite parts!!

It's a common challenge, parts lead times are usually in weeks, but can be in months. Can advocate for yourself and try to get in contact with Austria to prioritize, but that's about only recourse it seems.

Hi,
Did you try to contact the reseller in Europe?
It seems that there are different stock for Europe/USA...
I'm in Europe and sometimes its better for me to order in the USA, sometimes in Europe.
In France, the reseller is only dealing with IA but in other countries they sell directly to private.
Arnaud.

Re: Parts Delays and Diamond Supplier Issues?
Thanks, Arnaud. Which European resellers would you suggest? I'm not sure who to contact, although my situation may be more complex since it now is a warranty repair following the turbo replacement in December. That said, Diamond may have a mechanism of crediting or refunding in these circumstances.
What's the best way to contact Diamond? I have a related issue with the camshaft cover seals that have leaked following the piston replacement MSB since the shop, SouthTech / AeroTech, who did the work refuses to support a warranty claim, or honor their work with some expense coverage to remedy the issue. I'm not sure if they reused the old seals or pinched the new ones, but it was leaking profusely in addition to the new turbo leaking (see photos). The seals are cheap so it's just the labor, totaling about $1,100 to replace them.
I'd like to talk with Diamond about this, too. I'm thrilled with my DA-40 NG purchase, though this has been a bumpier start than I would have expected.

Re: Parts Delays and Diamond Supplier Issues?
Turbo lead times should be coming down. My order with a turbo just shipped. I think the current lead time for a turbo is 4 weeks. If significantly more than that, tell your shop to ping Diamond.

Re: Parts Delays and Diamond Supplier Issues?
Thanks, Michael. We have been pinging Diamond from the shop (Aero City at LGB). We're at 8 weeks right now and they gave us another 3-4 weeks. I've been patient but...michael.g.miller wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 8:03 pm Turbo lead times should be coming down. My order with a turbo just shipped. Re: Parts Delays and Diamond Supplier Issues?
Tell them to push harder. I ordered at the beginning of March and my turbo and other parts (injectors, cylinder head) are shipped. Admittedly with a bit of pressure on Diamond.
Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands. I would be screaming at Diamond if I was waiting 8 weeks for a turbo. Make sure your order is an AOG order.

Re: Parts Delays and Diamond Supplier Issues?
Tim,
Sorry to hear about your part situation. I dropped off mine DA40NG at Aero City in KLGB a week ago for the 100 hr as well as the 1st annual. Aero City has informed me that both my turbo and HPP is leaking as well. Aero City mentioned they are seeing a lot of turbos with leaks and a few of his customers have been waiting a while for the turbos. I guess you are one of them. He also mentioned some of them leak as brand-new unit. How many on the forums has experienced leaking turbos and how many has replaced more than one? Is this going to be like the governor where they are expected to go every 200-300 hours?
Peter

Re: Parts Delays and Diamond Supplier Issues?
What is leaking? Is it the oil into the turbocharger? Is it the exhaust/air pressure on one side or the other?
