In IMC when you’re cross checking approach plates it can be confusing if not dangerous. iPad in field of view (glare shield or attachment mounted) is much better solution for various reasons, cooling included.
Where do you keep checklists?
G1000, iPad (1st backup) and paper-from (2nd backup) in the plane pocket.

I teach my students to hold checklists up to the instrument panel so they can scan while doing them. Can't even begin to tell you how many times they will look down at a plate/checklist/etc and not scan for 5+ seconds and get off their heading or altitude (they also don't trim enough). Holding it up to the panel helps a lot.

Re ipad temp, the DA-62 charging is slow even when the ipad is cool.

The Stratus USB I had installed (on the avionics bus) some years back is dual USB-A ports. Not a lot of output but sufficient to operate and fully charge my Stratus 3 and slowly recharge my iPad Pro 11. These are both perfectly acceptable. Unless the iPad started at 100% I always land with more charge than I started.

Our DA62 has only dual USB-A. I ran a check today with my iPhone and my iPad Mini 6 connected at the same time. While the iPhone charges very slowly (like one percent point per 3-4 minutes), the iPad is actually loosing charge while connected. Both units are running Garmin Pilot, and screen brightness set around half scale.

I really need to upgrade to some serious USB-C PD. 2x60 watts would be fantastic.
