Anyone made metal and had the engine live?

Post by neema »

Our 62 has split time engines because of infant mortality. We’re in the shop to swap the timed out engine and an oil change on the other side ended up with a filter full of non ferrous metal. No other trends or signals to me while flying. The engine hasn’t been “talking” to me.

Curious if anyone else had a similar case where the outcome wasn’t engine replacement.

We can’t catch a break. If this one doesn’t make it, that’s two failed Austros in one year. ~1600 hours on both of them. They weren’t included in the piston ring AD but maybe applicable serial numbers need to be expanded.
