AFM/POH Storage Options or EFB
I took delivery of my DA40NG last Friday from London, Ontario, Canada! Woohoo!
So where do you all keep you AFM/POH book and protect it? I really don't want to put it into the backseat holder and stretch the mesh holder out. And if I keep it somewhere else it probably needs a protective bag or something. I've also read that it may be legal to scan the original document and keep in your EFB, which would make sense for me.
Any thoughts of wisdom?

Normally you want the AFM within reach during flight incase you need it for diagnosing a problem. In larger aircraft their often located directly under the captains seat or within reach.

Mine stays in the Copilot's side front cockpit pouch. Not sure if the modern interior design has the same arrangement. You want to be able to lay hands on it without becoming a contortionist.

I had a professional service scan mine, converted it to a PDF, ran OCR, indexed it, added links, and updated it with temp revisions. It lives on my iPad. I keep the physical book under the co-pilot seat where I can reach it if the unlikely need arises. With multiple pilots sharing my plane, having an EFB version of my plane's AFM is very handy, as each pilot can highlight and tag their local copy.
Note that this is much more than the original version you can download from the Diamond website. For starters, it's never been updated with all the temporary revisions. Next, it lacks your airplane's specific information. Finally, you cannot edit or update it unless you find a way to break the SECURE feature in Acrobat (which I understand some have done).

I downloaded the generic version of my DA62 AFM, scanned the airplane specific pages with Adobe Scan and inserted them as needed with Acrobat. I used Acrobat to recognize the text in the entire AFM so it is searchable and then stored it on my iPad, reading it with Good Reader.

I keep the original POH in the storage compartment behind the rear seats. I have a generic copy in my Foreflight docs. I noted all important unique weights, etc. into the Foreflight weight and balance data.
I keep the maintenance log book in my plane locker in the hangar.
I keep a small log book to note VOR checks, squawks that might concern me like the blinking coolant light, tire pressure checks, oil addition, and the like in my flight bag.

I keep the physical book within reach in the plane. In 2,000 hours I’ve never once referred to it while in flight.
