G1000 for Android

Post by TAILspin38 »

Can anyone advise an app for Android tablet to download the G1000 to become more familiar with options. Not a gamer so don't think I would use the Sims (X-Plane, MSFS) thanks

I think iOS is your only good option. I have the simionic software and hardware bezels and they closely mimic functionality of g1000. You can install just the software on an old ipad for really cheap if cost is your objective. It is very good.
There is a g1000 trainer program CD that installs on IBM PC. I got it with my airplane when I purchased. Its good but honestly Simionic is better because you can couple to a simulator.

Sporty's, the King's, and Garmin also offer G1000 transition training courses. If you're trying to learn the more nuanced feature & options, the PC trainers are generally your best bet. These come from Garmin and are not third-party interpretations. MyPilotStore seems to still sell the "legacy" G1000 PC trainers; Garmin only lists the NXI versions on their website.

Thanks Paul, that has been one of the issues with the Sportys g1000 (which I have) and some of the other videos is that they all teach NXI and GFC700. Although they are similar I don't want any information that I don't have or will never use. BRAIN SATURATION :scream:

Have you watched the old "Flying Like the Pros" series on YouTube? It's IFR-centric, and it's only about the "legacy" version.

I just started my IFR training and would like to be more fluent in dialing in the procedures. I am more of a NUT&BOLT kind of guy than a TECH person. As you know, if you don't twist or push in the right sequence you don't get what you want. Can get frustrating and easy to get behind.

I did a lot of training using Xplane but mostly Microsoft Simulator now (since it has the G1000 NXI now) using PilotEdge I-Ratings https://www.pilotedge.net/pages/i-ratings and watch these videos before I did each one from Dr Pilot FI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDVr5Lw ... lw-aYzwIuN

I also played with several hardware devices, but when doing instruments, you dont really need any of that in my opinion. I just have a powerful enough computer (Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio), large monitor, and the new Veolocityone FlightStick.

This was invaluable to me. When I got into the real DA40NG I was ready and confident and got my rating a few months later.

I also got this later, https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/743113 its the Garmin g1000 trainer for the DA40NG -- This helped me learn the "other" pages on the MFD that the sims don't have. I wouldn't say this was necessary, but if you are really into it, these are the details without sitting in the plane.
