DA 40 Kap140 dont follow Route on Gns430

Post by timonick »

Hay,

my AP dont follow the Route i have a drift when i try to nav via Route. When i fly with HDG , my HDG Pointer on the HSI are 5-10 Degrees on the Left from the Way im Flying . When i choose 320 HDG in the HSI the Plane is flying 310 HDG. Im not sure this is why he dont follow the route. Have anyone an idea how i can fix it? ty

I assume you have the electro-mechanical KI 525 HSI as originally delivered. The correlation between the mechanical movement of the heading bug and signal sent to the AP can get off. I had this happen years ago. It requires that the HSI go into the shop for adjustment - or worse, a rebuild :(

Do you have a G1000 or the KI525A:

His profile lists a DA40D, so I would assume it is G1000...

The AFM lists both possibilities

Timo:

I've not seen a panel like yours before. You don't have either the G1000 or the KI525. I would expect that your DG functions in a similar manner to the KI525 HSI interfacing with the autopilot.

With respect to heading, that'd be correct. When the 140 is in NAV mode it should be driven by the CDI. How does it behave when following an entered flight path in NAV mode? Specifically, ignoring heading for the moment, does it stay on course?
