Density altitude app

Post by TAILspin38 »

I use Garmin Pilot and would like to know if anyone can suggest a free app that uses an electronic calculator to figure the T/O and landing distances based on our DA40's performance and density altitude that I can plug in for different situations?

I use an app, but I think it cost $4. I don't understand the desire for a free app for something like this. I want the developers to make money and I sure don't want to look at ads while I am pre-flighting.

I use an iOS app called Gyronimo for the DA40. Very pleased with W&B and Perf Charts and I love how the calculations are overlayed atop actual charts from the manual. It was a few bucks but worth it. I’m happy to support creative software developers.
You will like the App.

ForeFlight Performance Plus. Not free, but calculates everything for every flight.

Thought I'd check out the Gyronimo app (Flight Pad). I find it seriously buggy and it doesn't quite show as depicted. I'll probably battle with it some more but am not optimistic.

Colin, you make a valid point. Adam, after seeing your sim, I respect your opinion. And Rich, look forward to your review. Am thinking about giving it a try. Rich, I enjoyed your story of BUZZING the tourists on the mountain top!

I have Gyronimo as well, on my iPad Mini. I find the W&B calculator on ForeFlight easier to use.

Maybe I'm dense but I haven't been able to get it to show calculations for TO distance and climb rate based on flight conditions.
