Re: Flying with Dogs
Hi Mike, Leilani thanks . Another question can I place the Diamond forum on my phone without setting up another account ? Must I have Tap a Talk to join the Fourm? Is there another App other than the Tap a talk? Thanks

Re: Flying with Dogs
You should be able to view the forum from your phone's web browser without using the Tapatalk app. I'm on iOS and every once in a while (maybe once a month?) I get asked if I want Tapatalk or not and I just dismiss it and continue to use the browser. I'd be tempted to remove Tapatalk support from DAN entirely, but I think there are several users who depend on it still.

Re: Flying with Dogs
i did find some observations here :
https://pilotsnpaws.org/forum/viewtopic ... 08#p149254
which does suggest <= 8,000 for healthy mature dog. Monitoring the dog breathing/comfort during flight seems prudent also.

Re: Flying with Dogs
Our pup has hundreds of hours logged and just normally goes to sleep during flight. Regarding mutt muffs ear protection, they are pretty much worthless. I was curious and put them over my ears during a flight and they had very little noise reduction. I then took them to the lab at work and we pulled them apart. We were very surprised to see that they only had 3/8" open cell foam inside the plastic ear cup. We then measured their noise reduction value and it was only slightly over 1db. Since then, we discarded the use of ear muffs. After nine years of flying with our dog, I can now whisper our dog's name from across the room and he will come running to me so I do not believe he has had an hearing loss. Our conclusion was the ear muffs made the owner feel better, but had very little benefit for the dog.

Re: Flying with Dogs
We use 3M 1100 foam earplugs placed gently in the ear, under the flap, but not in the canal, and hold them in place with a Happy Hoodie. Some groomers use the Hoodies to calm dogs when blow drying. Both are available on Amazon.

Re: Flying with Dogs
Luna is always happy to go flying with her humans. We add a folded blanket to the second row seat to fill the bottom cushion's trough, so she can lie down in her favorite 'dog ball' position and nap until we get there.
