My plane is now in North America!
Ordered in March of 2021, promised for November of 2021, revised to December 2021, then "re-promised" for February of 2022. Looks like they will make that last delivery date.
It left Austria January 26 and just arrived in Canada! Will spend a couple of weeks there at Diamond NA for final QA and new N#, then on to Premier at Lauderdale Exec.
Check out the FlightAware page to see the various legs flown (including the large tracking gaps (!) for parts of the North Atlantic) to see how they deliver DA62's from the Austrian factory:

More to come on first impressions and the story of how Diamond and Premier dealt with the delays (and a few other problems) later....

Way cool. Do you know if they had to add tankage to get it here? That would have been a great adventure!

They do not have to add additional fuel tanks to the aircraft to fly it over from Austria, the standard equipped fuel tanks that carry 86 gallons are enough.

Do you know what stops they made in Canada? I’ve flown the northern route BIRK BGSF CYFB which you can do without HF radio. But guessing Iqaluit is not super hospitable in the winter!farleymike wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 8:12 pm They do not have to add additional fuel tanks to the aircraft to fly it over from Austria, the standard equipped fuel tanks that carry 86 gallons are enough.

Congrats!!! Such a great feeling knowing that it’s so close! Mine was ready a couple days after it arrived. Here’s to hoping you’ll get it sooner!

Re: My plane is now in North America!
Congratulations, glad they made it!
Wow, they had some vicious headwinds coming out of Reykyavik: ground speeds occasionally below 100kts at the initial cruising altitude of 8000'.
Things got a lot better later in the flight, but it was still a 5hr10 leg. That wouldn't have left a lot of fuel in the tanks on landing. I wonder if there was a time where diverting to Kulusuk seemed like the only option?

I suspect they were flying at a low power setting as well. May 60%? 153KTAS and 11gph?

Re: My plane is now in North America!
I have an order to be delivered in the summer. If my plane happens to be made in Austria, is there any chance I could join the ferry flight? That would be a fantastic experience.
