Map light brightness

is there anyway to dim the overhead map light (i have a 62 but same question I assume for other types).
at night, it is WAY too bright

You could cut a little circle of red film to go over it. That way it would be less bright and also protect your night vision.

Seems like a fairly big miss to not have a dimmer on the overhead lights?!
