Anyone have a maneuver cheat sheet for a DA42NG?
I’m starting to do my commercial training in a DA42NG. Does anyone have a cheat sheet for recommended speeds and configurations for maneuvers?
Thanks!
Mike

Mike: Check your private messages -- I may have exactly what you need. I developed a DA42NG "cheat sheet" when working on my Commercial Multi in YOUR plane when it was on leaseback to a flight school at KJYO back in 2013.

Thanks so much Dave! This is exactly what I needed! Will save me so much time training for the commercial manuvers.
For bonus points.. does anyone have a cheat sheet for the systems / commercial oral exam in the DA42NG?
Thanks!

Re: Anyone have a maneuver cheat sheet for a DA42NG?
Mike: One important thing that's changed since I put together the Commercial maneuvers cheat sheet I sent you:
Diamond/Austro no longer recommends windmilling restarts because it negatively affects the engine's timing chain -- requiring the chain to be replaced per an AD. Back when I owned a DA42-VI and gave lots of sales demonstrations of climb rate with an engine shut down, I used to routinely demonstrate windmilling restarts because they were easier -- but no more!
Instead, ALWAYS restart using the starter with the key. But you'll have to slow to 90 knots (may require pitching up) before turning the Engine Master ON and causing the blades to come out of feather. If you're going too fast, the blades coming out of feather may cause the prop to start windmilling (which we don't want -- see above). Even when flying around 90 knots, when the blades come out of feather they may "clock" (the propeller repeatedly starts and stops), requiring some care to apply the starter only when the propeller is stopped -- otherwise you run the risk of starter damage.
Also when slowing to 90 knots for a restart, if you get TOO slow (e.g., below 80 knots), you run the risk of the plane beginning a Vmc rollover -- since you're flying with OEI asymmetrical thrust. I had one occasion where a student did this in a DA62, and as CFI I had to quickly drop the nose and apply rudder as the plane dropped a wing and began to enter a spin. We had inadvertently performed a Vmc demonstration (a different required Commercial task), although in a DA42 my experience is that you'll always get a stall warning (thus terminating the maneuver) before ever experiencing any loss of control.
Bottom line: when restarting an engine in flight, pay attention to airspeed -- don't get too fast or too slow.

You seem to have a DA42-VI. Do you want the cheat sheet for the DA42NG or the DA42-VI (e.g., they have different V-speeds)?
