Re: Landing Grass
My DA40 had the fairings off the mains from soon after I owned it. It didn't make enough of a speed difference and I could get to the tire valve more easily.

Re: Landing Grass
I have now worries landing my 42NG on a grass strip that is well maintained and has a runway length of 3.000ft+ (depending on density altitude). Usually I call the airport beforehand asking for runway condition. One of my favourite grass strips in Europe is Venice-Lido with approx. 3.000ft. If you have you have never done it, it is a must. Pack your tent (Camping San Nicolo) or take Hotel Victoria Palace (much quieter and cheaper than any hotel in the historic center) and take the water taxi downtown... My DA42 world would be poorer without this grass strip (and btw great starting point for the VFR route along the Croatian islands and much more...)
