Re: Rotating Tires to Even Out Wear- DA-40
Just thought I would pass this along. I said above that I could not get tires from Spruce and they were on backorder. I found them this am at Desser Tire 20 bucks cheaper and free shipping.

Thanks David, I was getting ready to order a spare set and after reading your first post decided I better get on it. Really appreciate the heads up on Dresser, now to find oil filters!

Anthony, Spruce has them coming in first of next month. Tempest. There may be a big waiting line. I have been backordered for a month. Cannot believe what
they were going for at some outlets.

Great! Did you decide to go with the Goodyear Flight Custom 3?

No, am going to stay with the II. If I did not have the fairing I would go with the Desser retreads that have much more rubber but will not clear the fairings. That is the tire Mike Busch recommends for light aircraft.

I just tallied up the TO/Landings I've got on these Airhawks. It comes to 413 to date. They wear like iron. It's still a bit of a struggle when removing/installing the MG fairings.

Don't know. I'm sure it depends on usage - a flight school aircraft won't get the lifetime out of a tire that a single pilot aircraft will get. As another datapoint to Rich's, my MLG tires (Condors - I actually won them as a door prize at a Diamondfest in London about 18 years ago, but didn't install them for another 6 or 7 years) have about 720 landings on them. I would estimate that they still have at least half of the original tread depth.
Of course, my landings are so gentle...

Re: Rotating Tires to Even Out Wear- DA-40
We've had really bad luck with tires. Our last set only lasted us two years. All three tires were all completely dry rotted at annual, plus had uneven wear due to alignment issues. We've got the wheel pants back on now and had the alignment checked when the new tires went on, so hopefully that'll take care of both issues. Such a frustrating item to have to deal with on a regular basis. We only had about 200 hours on the last set.

Mine wear more on the outside. When I first noticed that I rotated them and the wear evened out. Now I rotate them at the annual inspection. I think that helps with longevity.
