Flightstream 510 - Connection Issues

Hello again gang,
So the new plane is flying beautifully and making me look better than I am.
One small issue that I am seeing over my last 4 flights is an intermittent connection issue between my Flightstream 510 and my Ipad. It worked fine for first couple of weeks after delivery and now manifests both on the ground and aloft. This hampers ipad/panel flightplan transfer and also cuts my traffic view on the ipad when disconnected.

Anybody else seen anything like this? Right now it's more an annoyance but as I progress into my IFR training it could be a bit more of a factor.
I've searched the forum threads and didn't uncover any previous posts on this.

Thanks for help as always,
Steve

SITREP.... after a second cup of coffee and a helpful hint from one of the pilots at Lifestyle, it could just be that the pesky iPhone in my skyrocket was jockeying for position with the iPad for a connection to the 510..... will report back on Monday... you know... for the enrichment of the aviation world, or something like that ;)

Thanks. Keep us posted. I just put an order in for a 510, so curious to learn if there are issues with it.

There's a panel setting that increases the robustness of the FS510 wireless Bluetooth signal, but that limits you to no more than 2 paired devices at a time.

Thanks Dave, I'll check that out as well.

The panel will only connect three devices at a time, but if you have more than three authorized and available, it may be switching between devices. I have more than three paired paired, but "disable" all but the three I want to use.

You can of course also have your phone paired to the audio panel at the same time for phone calls and music.

I have a Flightstream 210 ... when it’s working I love it. Yet it can seem like black magic as to when it decides it will pair with the iPad and when it won’t.

We have been advised by our avionics shop not to have ForeFlight running as we have in our case the Garmin 530W Aux page opened to pair. We ensure ForeFlight is off on all devices and we only turn one of them on after we are in the run up area away from any other WiFi or hotspots. Sadly, I can only count on the Flightstream pairing 60% of the time as of late. I will most likely be giving the avionics team a call in the near future as this level of reliability is unsatisfactory. I will keep you posted

I have no such problems at all after 14+ months with the FS210. Maybe it has to do with where it's mounted (behind the panel, above the transponder) or the fact that I have one and only one device paired with it - my iPad. This and one or more other devices running Foreflight will usually be in the plane restricted to WiFi/Stratus connections.

What devices do you pair with the G1000? I only have my phone and my iPad paired, but I remember reading something from Dave where he talks about pairing something to get better traffic alerts??? I can't recall the details...

I have two iPads and my phone paired. Both the panel and FF will make aural traffic announcements so I've muted FF. The traffic source is ADS-B via 345R.
