My HSI has been working fine for the past 1500 hours, and now all of the sudden is intermittent. I am familiar with the magnetometer relocation option but I can't believe it would work without issue for 11 years and start being a problem now.
Has anyone determined this problem could be just a Garmin software update that I need to perform? Or are there any other ideas other than the relocation of the magnetometer???

Re: Intermittent HSI
What are the symptoms? What changed? Answer those two questions and you'll likely have the answer.
A possible change is that a connector came a little loose.
It is unlikely that software stopped working suddenly or that the magnetometer location is the issue.

Re: Intermittent HSI
A loose connector will do this. Mine acted up a few years ago. It turned out the main connector into the HSI had come partly off. Luckily it was the first thing I checked. Easy, no-cost fix.

Re: Intermittent HSI
If it is the BK indicator, mine stopped working about 14 years ago, when taxiing out from the avionics shop after some AP work. It was a loose connector...
