Fueling the DA20

Fueling the DA20
Recently acquired a DA-C1 Eclipse and would like to know if there is a trick to filling the tank without spilling fuel? I keep putting the "measuring stick" in the tank but it takes forever to fill it!

I also have a DA20 C1. I know, roughly how much fuel I can expect to put in and refuel slowly. If you look into the tank neck there is a rim/collar about four inches/100mil from the top. Fuel above this line and you will splash your boots via the overflow. Also listen as the expected amount approaches as you can hear the note change as the fuel approaches the top.

Same with my DA-20 C1. I have a fuel gauge that is very accurate so I know my target amount. I know I am actually full by listening. ....and if someone is near me with their engine running - then there is a good chance that my shoes will get a 100LL bath...
When I bought my a/c I ordered the measuring stick. Spent over $100 buying that wooden stick but it turns out that the round stick was too big to get past my filler neck so I sent it back. I did measure it before sending it back and made myself a flatter stick that had some bend to it so it could get past my filler neck. I use it during preflight when I want to confirm what my gauge is telling me.
