New reading lights

Has anyone recently upgraded reading lights in DA42 (OSB 42-135)? Similar to other topic (ACL/POS lights), I got quote that looks absurd to me: $3000 for parts - 3 reading lights assemblies and some additional bits.

I assume they look like the black one in this picture?

IIRC correctly this one item cost about $650 several years back. It is a superior device and mounts better than the original (gray) one next to it.

That’s it - €742 or $815 each.

I think I’ll skip this for now because $3000 (parts only) for getting better reading lights simply doesn’t make sense.

I replaced the incandescent bulbs in my reading lights with part 26CU04 which I found readily available at a local industrial supply shop. They are much better than the incandescent bulbs. If the issue is with the light fixture itself, I found that they are a standard Renault part that you can find easily in Europe -- I ordered three from someone on eBay.

That’s a lot of money. I’d buy a neck light for $18 and use the $3000 savings for lessons.

Upgrades can be a real wallet-drainer, huh? $3000 for some reading lights and extra stuff does sound a bit ridiculous to me too. I'd suggest checking out other suppliers, see if you can snag a better deal. Gotta shop around, you know? Don't rush into anything until you've explored all your options.

I don’t want to sound harsh but it sounds like you’re not familiar with the topic. I suggest checking particular SB and then giving advices rather than giving general advice with no practical value.
