Yeah after a lengthy email thread with BOTH Garmin and Diamond, they finally told me that there are no restrictions in the installation manual for the G1000 nor from Diamopnd. So basically it seems like any AI that meets part 23 limitations should be ok to install either via an STC or a 337.
On that note has anyone been able to locate the Install manual fore the G1000? I find it frustrating to haver to play 20 questions with Garmin and Diamond rather than being able to "Read The Fine Manual" myself.
Also with the GI275, did any of you connect it to the G1000?

Re: Standby Attitude Indicator Replacement
After reviewing all 3 at Sun & Fun this year — GI275(what a Brick), AV30C(somewhat choppy roll and looks cheap) and RC Allen Mini6 (silky smooth, dual redundancy & integrated Magnetometer), The Mini6 was a no-brainer. 36 mo battery replacement at 1/5 cost of gi275 battery just sealed the deal.
I completed the installation a few weeks ago with my AP checking my work. Replace breaker, add 2 Ts for static/pitot and solder 2 wires for 28V pinout harness. - Total 1hr. Calibration was equally simple and MH is bang on.
After a few weeks of flying - I’m thrilled with the results. Its especially good for night approaches as backup since factory AI is poorly lit.

Re: Standby Attitude Indicator Replacement
Curious if the additional altimeter in that is required to be checked as well at IFR certs?

Re: Standby Attitude Indicator Replacement
I believe so. The regs do say "each altimeter instrument". Both my Aspen and the mechanical have correction reports.
