I think that's fine if your mechanic is charging for every moment of their time related to that part. From my view, the markup on parts covered getting the wrong part shipped, keeping an inventory of parts, learning new procedures related to particular parts, shipping back your core for some larger part ordered, etc. If you are saying you have no probably taking all the risk on the side of "right parts for the right problem, at the right time," then I could see eliminating the mark up.IMHO there should be no markup on parts if your are paying for labor

For the .001% chance that you have an unbelievably unique incident that the airbags are actually useful.
