California to Carolina - Part 3: Starting back West

Post by waynemcc999 »

Some challenging weather with a good deal of convection in the forecast. Will we make reasonable progress toward home… or divert short? First a plane ride for loved ones, and then we start our return to California. Welcome aboard! Wayne, GeezerGeek Pilot

Wayne, I enjoyed watching your video!
I was like "Wait, is this the runway?!" when you are landing at KTDW.
Though the runway condition looks horrible and the marking is almost completely faded, it's funny they have a beautiful terminal building

Tosh, right! I'm hoping someone on one of the forums will provide some insight on Tradewind... and the terminal was top notch. Weird.
Thanks for watching,

Great Videos, Wayne!

I stoped in Dalhart, TX for my fuel stop between Chicago and LA since I heard the field restaurant had a great chicken fried steak, but alas it was no more... But my father tells me that the English Field House Restaurant at Amarillo and Shelby's at KTDW are a great places too... Did you happen to give Shelby's a try?

I am so sorry to hear that about Dalhart. I had an amazing lunch there on one crossing. Great apple pie.

Jon, I was at the KTDW FBO which is in the same building as Shelby's... but they were closed for the day when I arrived/departed. Hey, chicken fried steak gets the saliva flowing!
Enjoy it all!
