ForeFlight Quick Tip: Where’s the Airport ?!

Post by waynemcc999 »

Have you ever had difficulty spotting an airport? On my first significant cross country and approaching Chadron, Nebraska — for the life of me I couldn’t find the airfield. Of course, appropriately humbled, I eventually did. In this quick tip we’ll explore a very simple yet awesome ForeFlight feature that is a nice visual assist for our eyeballs. Welcome aboard! Awesome video Wayne! I use the Traffic Pattern feature all the time, but I never thought to use the Expand and Direct To to get rid of unneeded segments. That's really valuable when you have a towered airport that will alternately give you left base or right base instructions, You click through those pretty quickly with no narration at the end so I had to go back a couple of times to see the exact sequence. That was by far the most valuable part for me.

David, I'd also used the Traffic Pattern for quite a while... but only recently came across the Expand. Good stuff. Thanks for watching.

The newest feature for independent altitude per leg is also fantastic. Allows you to plan and execute climbs/descents around complex airspace or terrain much easier.
