G1000 and NXI In-Panel Jeppesen Database Subscriptions

Post by chili4way »

Does anybody here subscribe to in-panel Jeppesen data? This takes two forms:
  • PilotPak (vs. OnePak) where the Navigation database is sourced from Jeppesen instead of Garmin. Everything else is sourced by Garmin, including FAA-format Garmin FliteCharts (if that option is selected).
  • ChartView which is a $5000 one-time option that enables the in-panel display of geo-referenced Jeppesen approach plates
I'd like to understand:
  • why you chose PilotPak over OnePak for the extra subscription cost
  • what enroute chart capabilities -- other than approach plates -- come with the ChartView-enabled subscription from Jeppesen.
  • what the database update schedule and process are for ChartView in-panel approach plate subscription.
Jeppesen EFB options in ForeFlight, JeppView, etc. are outside the scope of this thread. This is solely about in-panel capabilities & subscriptions. Likewise, why you prefer FAA or Jepp formatted approach plates is outside the scope of this thread.
