Seats
I have occasional bouts with lower back pain. It has flared up this week for unknown reasons. I find that when I drive my car the relatively soft bucket seats set me up for a bit of an ordeal when exiting the car and are even a bit uncomfortable for me while driving. Today I took the plane up for some exercise. The seats, as you know, are quite firm and have a fixed position. It was wonderful. No discomfort at all while flying. Exiting the plane gave me no twinges.

Re: Seats
Do you have any numbness tingling on your legs or feet? Or is it just on your lower back ?

Just lower back. It pops up occasionally and has been happening for 50+ years. It has always gone away on its own.

Re: Seats
Gotcha ! Probably some loose screws in the back that need to get right up, j/k.
Now, that could be some facet joint disease due to either age or minor injuries.

Re: Seats
I happen to be experiencing numbness and tingling in my right foot and now some lower back pain. Ice on my back and stretching seemed to help both. Thoughts or advice?

Re: Seats
See if you can stand on the balls of your feet then try walking on your heels.. if you can’t do one or both of those things you have a probable disk issue...

Re: Seats
This veered off in a direction I didn't expect. But I can do both of those things so the cause remains a mystery, as it has for decades. My remedy now is obviously to fly my DA40 moreYCCA wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 8:38 pmSee if you can stand on the balls of your feet then try walking on your heels.. if you can’t do one or both of those things you have a probable disk issue...

Re: Seats
The numbness and tingling in tour right foot could be a indication of either disc herniation, radiculopathy or any kind of pathology that causes impingement of the nerve root that enervate the leg or foot. Physical therapy and NSAIDS could help alleviate the pain. When those measures failed to work, interventional injection can help. When all those won’t help with the pain or you are experiencing constant numbness tingling and weakness, it is time to see the spine surgeon and have a procedure done to prevent the permanent nerve damage from happening.Derek wrote:I happen to be experiencing numbness and tingling in my right foot and now some lower back pain. There could be a few factors that causes the lower back pain which need differential diagnosis but usually minor problem. The big problem is the above mentioned numbness tingling. Hope this helps.
