Re: What Oil Do You Run?

My 2003 DA40 has about 1800 hours on it has always used Aeroshell 15W50. I bought it 1 1/2 years ago and am continuing with the same. The plane has seen periods of high and low usage in the past and has lived in California and Wisconsin. I've done a couple of oil analyses with Blackstone and they are very complimentary. There's nothing bad in the oil. I keep it at 5 quarts and burn about a quart every 10-12 hours and that's been steady for the last 150 hours. The compressions are nearly perfect. I change the oil and filter every 50 hours or 4 months. I still have the old dipstick and use a conversion provided in another post, but will get the new dipstick this year.
