New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option
Diamond revealed the new Lounge Seat Option for the wider DA62 which consists of an Armrest cavity and cup holders between the 2 middle seats versus 3 seats.
I am also going to bet that this will be an available option for the 5 seat DA50.

Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option
Any idea if it can be retrofitted to an existing DA-62?

Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option
While I don't have a DA62, I did have a Piper Lance with club seating in which the middle row faced rearward and had space between the middle seats for a cooler and a fold-down table on the starboard side of the rear "conference" area, with the rear door was on the port side of the plane. I wondered why this was not an available DA62 configuration or whether it will be available in the DA50.

Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option
It has to do with the underlying structure of the DA62 (and likely DA50). The back seat bottom (row 1, aka the middle row) consists of a composite structure that goes all the way across from one side of the plane to the other, and underneath is where rods for flaps, ECU backup batteries, etc. are located. There's not a flat floor for creating floor space between 2 outboard row 1 seats.Sandy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 2:24 pm While I don't have a DA62, I did have a Piper Lance with club seating in which the middle row faced rearward and had space between the middle seats for a cooler and a fold-down table on the starboard side of the rear "conference" area, with the rear door was on the port side of the plane. This means it's relatively straightforward to change the seat backs (as with the lounge seat option), but not the seat bottoms.

Is the DA 62 with the new seating option now a 6 place aircraft making it Basic Med. compliant?

Probably not yet. I say that because Diamond Canada already has a letter from the FAA that says the DA62 is Basic Med compliant in its 5-seater version without the 2-seat back row.
There's a Diamond Optional Service Bulletin that shows how to convert a 7-seater into a 5-seater. It requires additional parts to create a flat cargo area floor (with under-floor storage), replacing the back (rear-most) row of seats:

Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option
I hope to see some sort of cool Honda minivan-like kit with the pop-up two seats in the back. Most of the time I would have one be a cargo hauler, but I would hate to lose the option to toss little kids further from the knobs and buttons.

Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option
I agree with Colin. I think that'd be the hot ticket.
Also, reclining middle row seats would be great. If the middle cupholder in this lounge arrangement could fold up for the occasional emergency passenger (or the middle seat fold down in the current config), that'd be great, too. Hard to make W&B work to take 7 adults but would be cool to do it occasionally or a good spot to put a kid.
Am I asking too much? Probably...

Presumably you could put bags on the back seats. Folding them down just helps with wear and tear on the leather.

Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option
Folding down the rear seat leaves a large luggage area!
Here's a solution for the 2 seat "middle row" club seating - keep the advantage of the "extra seat, if needed, and have a removable center console too!!
