Nacelle plugs

Post by jprhode »

Hi

Any idea where to get the typical soft red plugs for the various holes in the nacelles? I have a most excellent travel canopy cover from Bruce’s, but haven’t seen orderable plugs anywhere.

Thanks
Jason

Need them for the 62, not the 40...only thing listed under plugs is the pitot cover.

Oh, I missed what forum we were under.

Are they markedly different from the DA42 NG inlets?

I think Bruce does custom work for, essentially, the same price because they like increasing their catalog of pieces for different planes. All the work is done in China now, so I think their profit margin is healthy. It's worth shooting them an email.

For Diamond twins, I've seen owners that keep their planes outside use engine covers rather than nacelle plugs.

Engine nacelles for the DA62 are identical to those of the DA42-VI, which have a very different shape and openings from the DA42 NG or DA42 TDI.

Just to close this out:

I ended up ordering Bruce’s engine covers instead. Super nice, they go on very quickly - slip over the back of the nacelle and Velcro down the front. Likely faster than plugging up all the openings. Two thumbs up, problem solved.

Cheers

I'm considering them as well. I've just got quotation - seems a bit expensive (I already have Bruce's canopy and nose cover). My aircraft is in hangar but I found bird's nest twice in the air inlet.

I purchased yellow ones you can cut to shape from Aircraft Spruce for my DA20-C1. But then I discovered that the 5$ car washing spunges from Wal-Mart were the perfect size. That’s what I have been using ever since. Call me frugal or cheapstake if you want, that’s fine by me.

The problem is inlet marked with B on picture below, A is easy to solve.
