AD 93-05-06
At my annual my mechanic noticed AD-93-05-06, which requires a 2000 hour inspection of the ACS A510 ignition switch, which is the one installed in the DA40. New one to me. I was wondering if it was to everyone else.

Re: AD 93-05-06
Yeah, that one's been on my AD list for years, and with 1900 hours on mine now, it may be due next annual. I don't think it's a big deal though...

Re: AD 93-05-06
Thanks for the confirmation. Not sure why Diamond would install a piece of equipment that has an ten-year old AD against it (my DA40 is a 2003), but lots of things in aviation don't make sense.

Re: AD 93-05-06
This is just an "inspect and lube" kind of AD, so nothing is really wrong with the switch. I've attached the AD document in case anyone wants to look at it.

Re: AD 93-05-06
I have had my 2007/08 refuse to release the key smoothly. It is still finicky but is a little better since I lubed it. Anyone else see this? Related to the AD?

Mechanic found corroded points so will have to do the "kit."

Re: AD 93-05-06
AD 93-05-06 came up at this year's annual. $260 in labor to inspect and lube a $190 switch. Sigh.
Seems there's not much competition for ignition switches. Spruce mostly lists ACS switches, with two more expensive alternatives from Bendix and Electroair (the latter which specifically mentions no annoying AD to comply with!)
I guess I can deal with $0.13/hour for a switch inspection.
