Dinghy for hire?

Post by gsontheimer »

I plan to fly from Germany to the North Cape over some water and would like to hire a life raft somewhere (in Europe). Any idea, who provides such services? And any source to buy one, provided it is not too expensive?

Gerhard, I'm sure the guys at Diamond Austria in Weiner Neustadt could point you in the right direction, they fly across the pond quite often! Greetings und gute flug! Rob

Gerhard, there is one guy in Wick who rents out this kind of equipment. Look here

Otherwise you might consider buying one, they are quite cheap in the US and at the current rate of the Dollar it shouldn't hurt too much. Look at this offer from Sportys.

If none of these options appeal to you, drop me an email and I will call up a neighbor of mine who had one for sale a year ago. It wasn't cheap either, but if he still has it, he might have changed his opinion.

The link to Sporty's is only the TSO kit, not the raft. A raft is 5.000-8.000 USD. At least the TSOed ones. And, unfortunately, Sports's does not ship to Germany.

That one is overkill for DA40 ops, This is the one that I carry. Very compact and not too heavy. I'm sure Survival must have a European rep.

This one is similar.

Nigel is right. These models are sufficient.

If you have trouble shipping it, you might want to sign up with shipit.to. They forward the merchandise with your own customs declaration. They have quite good shipping rates.
