Hi Folks,
Happy to join the Diamond flying forum.
I am flying my Diamond for a mere year, so more reading the forum than being able to share in fact.

Hello,
As Kai already pointed, EPOM is in some center of Poland. Grass field, 900m long, with nice refreshment facilities (playground for kids, restaurants etc.). In two years we will host FAI European gliding championships here. If not for the problem with open access to fuel I would recommend the place as a nice stop going various directions through central Europe. Due to fuel issues - maybe not necessary, however this I hope to be resolved in the course of coming year.
In the meantime, if after this warm introduction of EPOM anyone willing to stop and refuell here - just leave me a message, I will somehow arrange the food for the engine also.

I am flying DA40, Lycoming version, sn 40.399. She was iported from States last year, with the help of Premier on that side of the ocean (btw. - greetings Jeff, I can see you are pretty active and helpful on this forum). Steam gauges, long-range, extended laguage - that's my plane. I have managed to log 60 hours last year and we both (plane and me) are still alive and in good shape - this was my first 60 hours after passing ppl exam :)

All the best,
Bartek

Hi Jean,
Nice to see you, Belgium is indeed quite close, just for a trip. If you wish we can plan some summer weekend, starting EPOM, than flying Bagicz for Baltic Sea swimming. Bagicz is former military airstrip, 3 km from sandy beaches of Kolobrzeg resort, my favourite place for weekend flying. You won't find too many information about it, but proven as a nice place for landing (1000m asphalt).
All the best,
Bartek

Hi Bartek

Welcome from Australia. My Diamond DA 40 turns 1 year old on April 14th. It did not arrive into Australia until July last year. We had one month U/S -unserviceable to to prop damage, and another 3 weeks out because of a faulty fuel tank probe. So in 5 months actual flying I have managed 123 hours!

I might come all the way from Australia to join Jean and you on the flight that you suggested! Sounds great.

Cheers

Robin

Hi Ribin,
Nice to meet you. Looks that you are a real remote "location" on this forum :) Although in fact everything depends on starting point :)
If you get here from Australia I will get you to Kolobrzeg in my DA40, with pleasure. And in fact this is a nice seaside resort, look at the pictures: http://www.e-kolobrzeg.pl/kolobrzeg_zdjecia.php
Maybe I am exegerating a bit with that Kolobrzeg, but Baltic is a nice sea, sometimes even warm in summer (if 20 deg C can be called warm...) and untill recently it was too far for me to go. By car it was some 6-7 hours, not very tempting in terms weekend excurisions. With plane it is totally different...
So this is the secret of Kolobrzeg on this forum- my first cross country trip, where I dared to put family into aeroplane and take advantage of pilot privilages :)
Best,
Bartek

Hi Bartek

20deg Celsius is warm??? Last summer when I was flying beach patrols looking for sharks, we had a really hot day. Coming back to Essendon -our home base, ATIS said Temperature was 47degress Celsius. I later found out that the aircraft I was flying was temperature limited to ISA plus 30 degress Celsius.

I remember my first cross country trip as a PPL, it was so exciting.

Cheers

Robin

PS its a hard life but I am off to Central Australia tomorrow, Ayers Rock for a conference. Unfortunately not flying my Diamond, flying commercially on Qantas.
