@Tim

I am considering using an RC Allen 2600-3 as a replacement for my BFGoodrich / L3 standby attitude indicator in my 2005 DA40. I checked with Diamond, and they advised that the panel tilt is 7 degrees.

Did you ever put one in yours? What approval(s) were required?

I have not installed the RC Allen 2600-3 but at some point I plan on doing so.

The side of my BFGoodrich / L3 has a sticker that says "Calibrated For Installation in 10 deg Sloped Panel".

Also, the P/N is 1100-28K(10). I am assuming the (10) means 10 deg slope.

If you remove the glareshield, you can easily access the AI and see if yours has a similar sticker.

I am considering installing the RCAllen 2610-3 in place of the BFGoodrich/L3 standby Attitude Indicator. I called and emailed Diamond support re the tilt angle of my 2005 DA40. They responded...
Hi Sandy,

As mentioned on the telephone Friday evening, the I-Panel tilt is 7 degrees.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us again.

So, I guess the official word, at least for the 2005 G1000 DA40, is that it has a 7 degree tilt angle.

The original AI in my 2007 G1000 version is the MidContinent 4300-206. Per the MidContinent website, that model is specifically for Diamond and has a panel tilt of 6.5 degrees. So I guess the Diamond guy just rounded up. There is also the 4300-207 shown, which is also for Diamond, with a 10 degree tilt--presumably for the pre-G1000.

It seems to depend on the year and panel configuration:
OEM AI, 2001 DA40
OEM AI, 2001 DA40
This was my OEM AI, note 0 degree panel tilt...
