Hi all,
Just a short question, because I just noticed that one of my kardex item has turned red for the maintenance of the essential bus (DA4-3110-60-15). It is written "maintenance/lubrification".
Is it only an inspection? Has the part to be changed? It has been installed on the plane 1000hr ago (in 2008).
If there is something to do on this bus, is there also something to do on the 2 other bus? I don't see anything in my kardex for that (but maybe it is in the maintenance checklist).
Thank you for sharing your knowledgde .
Arnaud.

Re: Essential bus - Maintenance 1000hr ?
I wouldn't lubricate an electrical bus. I presume that you only need to inspect for loose connection and corrosion, then check the function of the ESS BUS switch. I've checked mine a couple of times during maintenance/inspection over the past 22 years, but only once (recently) for real:

It would be nice to know if something other than an inspection and function test is required, as my 1000 hour items will be due at the next Annual Inspection.

Arnaud - See Chapter 04-00-00 Section 1 and Chapter 05-10-00 Section 3.A of the DA40-180 AMM for Essential Bus.
"Check both ends of each wire connected to the battery relay for insecure connection. Check essential bus copper bar
(behind circuit breakers) for looseness. Verify proper function."
