Where to buy 100h supplies for DA42NG?
Hi there,
I live in the US and own a DA42NG. I want to buy the supplies necessary to do my own 100h services in the future. Specifically, I’m looking to get oil, an oil filter, a fuel filter, and safety wire (if different than .032”). Anyone have tips about where I can buy these parts economically in the US?
Thanks so much!
Mike

All the hardware needed for the engine comes in a kit available from any Diamond service center. I suppose in theory you could find the oil filter etc from Mercedes…
A good place for consumables such as safety wire is aircraft spruce, but it’s pretty much all .032 if that’s what you have.

Yeah I know about the 100h kits but they are insanely priced! I just want to buy the Mann filters, but all I can find are some Latvian and Australian retailers I don’t recognize. No US based retailers seem to stock them. Would be great if anyone has a PIREP on which retailers are reputable / have affordable US shipping.

I just did a quick search. You can now buy the MANN engine oil filters from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/MANN-Genuine-Rep ... B00252C3VA
Here's a link to a US supplier of the fuel filters:

It appears that Amazon does not have these oil filters in stock; any other sources for them? I am tired of getting hosed ($250 USD) for a $20 oil filter, a paper filter, a piece of plastic tubing and two washers in the 100 hour kit.

The Austro engine is based on a Mercedes OM640 diesel engine, so you could always try searching online for a Mercedes-Benz oil filter (probably produced for Mercedes by MANN) for that model engine. Years ago when I last bought the 100 hour kit from Diamond, it included the Mercedes oil filter contained in a Mercedes-Benz box (sorry I don't have the MB part # anymore). The MB OM640 engine was never used in US-based vehicles, but was very popular in Europe and elsewhere.

Thanks, Dave.
I found a cross-reference document https://www.oilfilter-crossreference.co ... e_vignette that might be helpful. The Mann filters are available on eBay however some places want $35 for the filter and over $100 to ship from Germany.

I bought it all on internet with no problem for my da40 austro engine.it’s Mercedes stuff. Saved a lot! The several Diamond specific parts were purchased from Premier’s Texas location. Called on phone got the O rings in a day or two.

What site did you buy them from on the internet? Did they come from the US or Europe?

Starting with shopping list:
550041177] AEROSHELL OIL DIESEL ULTRA (5W30) 7.00 Units 36.00 $ 252.00
[HU615/3x] OIL FILTER WITH O-RING (E4A-52-300-KIT) 1.00 Units 40.00 $ 40.00
[WK724/3] MANN FUEL FILTER 1.00 Units 70.00 $ 70.00
[E4A-70-000-826] GEARBOX SEALING O-RINGS 2.00 Units 5.00 $ 10.00
[DIN3771-26X2-FPM75] GEARBOX OIL FILTER O-RING 1.00 Units 4.00 $ 4.00
[DIN7603A-8x11.5AL] FUEL FILTER GASKET 8x11.5 1.00 Units 3.00 $ 3.00
[OIL ANALYSIS] BLACKSTONE OIL ANALYSIS 1.00 Units 50.00 $ 50.00
These prices are those quoted by a super reputable shop. Seemed high to me. I bought The Diamond parts from Premier’s Texas location - $38 but I got a couple of annuals worth. Everything else was sourced from run of the mill internet searches. I can give you the exact sources and prices as of last March; but I’ll need to have my office staff look at my Amex charges. Let me know and I’ll get it done in a day or two.
