Re: WAAS KAP140
Sure. I did in my last DA40 (one of the earliest G1000 2004s). However, I believe you cannot buy the GIA63Ws any more.

I did it years and years ago.

Re: WAAS KAP140
Maybe you answered this question before but I don’t remember I saw it: What’s G1000 software version do you have - is it the same that all legacy owners have or you got some upgrade when installing WAAS upgrade?

Re: WAAS KAP140
Ours is a 2004 upgraded to WAAS. Not sure what rev you are using now, but the KAP 140 works fine with both 321.22 and 321.23 software. 321.23 is the current S/W revision, which is by no means new. You can find comparisons for this forum, but personally I would use this opportunity to upgrade to the latest. Just make sure they select the correct autopilot during the S/W config. I had to go back to have it fixed (I took delivery after the shop closed).

Re: WAAS KAP140
Thanks for reply but I was specifically interested in Colin’s reply because I understood he did it on DA42. But now when I rethink it comes to my mind that he has GFC700 in his DA42.

Re: WAAS KAP140
Ah, no, I did the WAAS upgrade on the KAP140 DA40 I had (which Chad now has, I think he's on the board somewhere). I don't remember the software version on the G1000 at the time, and I am certain it was upgraded since.
On my DA42 I upgraded to WAAS at the same time that I did a bunch of other work, like the upgrade to the GFC700.

Re: WAAS KAP140
wow, is this going to be another software version challenge. I thought that the WAAS upgrade issue for the DA42 was only a hardware availability issue.
This is going to be a bigger challenge than I thought. I am about to purchase a 2006 DA42, The price is right but now I'm beginning to see why.
The DA42 is such a good aircraft in so many regards but this software issue is really making me rethink my plan. Does anyone think that this is still a good plane to purchase giving the software issues and Diamonds outlook on the situation. It sure sounds discouraging.
