Re: W&B calculator
I got this from Diamond distributor in Australia when I picked up my 42-VI.
For some reason this site won't let me load the macro enabled version, so let me know if this one is any good, or PM me.
Cheers

Re: W&B calculator
I am using the FF W&B now and it gets the job done. I had to upgrade my subscription.

Re: W&B calculator
I use the FF weight and balance tool as well. My only gripe is the lack of provision for TKS usage. I have it setup now as a fuel station but it's excluded from the max zero fuel weight calc.
Gets me close enough though

Re: W&B calculator
Set up an "extra station" for TKS.
Choose "Seats, baggage, etc (not a fuel station)" and set the TKS moment arm. I use a 90# limit for completely full. I can also set a lower weight amount for TKS if it is not full.

Re: W&B calculator
I use both FF and autorouter (https://www.autorouter.aero). Autorouter has W&B integrated with actual flight plan so you can see full diagram for whole flight.

Re: W&B calculator
Setting up TKS as a bag or cargo won't show CG movement when TKS is used (you have to fill and empty the TKS station to see it's effects). The risk is that it's easy to take off with a full plane on the back of the envelope and use 70 lbs of TKS and land waaay aft CG.jb642DA wrote:Set up an "extra station" for TKS.

I setup TKS as a fuel station to see the movement--you can enter how much fuel (TKS) used. I have to enter the amount of TKS in as weight, not liquid volume, and remember that it's not factored into zero fuel weight calc.
Not too difficult. I don't worry about W&B (even with TKS) in most scenarios except the following:
1. when the 4th person comes along for the ride
2. when 2 pax (3 total) and have huge bags that don't fit in the nose
3. Aux tanks being filled with 2+ pax

Re: W&B calculator
If I'm concerned about TKS use inflight (amount of use would be a guess on my part), I just run the W&B twice - once with the takeoff amount of TKS on board and then with "zero" TKS onboard. All I need to do is "uncheck" the check box to get "zero TKS" results. This also shows "worst case" - land with TKS empty, no guessing "inflight usage" reqiured.
