Hi Everyone,
I own a DA42NG (converted with kap 140 autopilot) in Europe.
Is it possible to increase Max Zero Fuel Mass? (currently it is at 1765kg)
Is there any modification so it can be around 1835??
I can't fly with full seats. Max Takeoff weight is 1900kg in my aircraft.
Any advice or help would be nice,
many thanks
Increase MZFM!

Re: Increase MZFM!
I previously owned an early DA42-VI with a MTOW of 1900 Kg, and was promised when I picked it up that a 100 Kg weight increase was coming.
However when the weight increase was made official (for both NG and -VI models), I was told by Diamond that it could not be retro-fitted to existing aircraft. I was told that to obtain the weight increase, Diamond was forced to demonstrate to EASA a 10G drop on the gear with no damage! To pass this test required a few structural changes to be made to the landing gear (not that difficult to do), but also additional carbon fiber reinforcement to the fuselage structure around the cockpit that would be impractical to apply to existing airframes. (For comparison, I recall hearing that FAA Part 23 only requires a 3G drop test on the gear.)
But I was told this back in 2014. You might contact Diamond in Wiener Neustadt to see if this is still true. Or if flying overweight, try not to hit the runway at 10Gs.

Re: Increase MZFM!
Hi,
Just got an e-mail from Diamond in Wiener Neustadt that it is not possible to increase MTOM for my aircraft. They said it has to do with the serial number. (it is one of the early ones)
thanks
