G1000 Data issues
Hello All:
I have a two month only DA42 VI with G1000 Nxi. My last upload of Garmin flight charts is showing data error on the message announciator. Does anyone have any idea how to fix the error. The aux page doesn't show any errors. But I don't have the charts. It can't display.
Thanks Perry

Re: G1000 Data issues
If your DA42-VI is only two months then you should have some warranty and ability to get help from official sources. Unfortunately, I can't provide much help with Nxi device because I don't have the access to any. Let's see if anything has changed in Diamond's customer support.

Re: G1000 Data issues
Thank you. I hope they do better. So far all the questions on their customer service has been referred to service centers, which I can't get a hold of anyone. All they tell me at the customer support call this or that place. The online links to the customer service centers don't work and the phone numbers are wrong. At least in the US. Even for my fuel imbalance indicator, they tell me to call Garmin. I am setting up an appointment at the factory in London, CA to check everything out. Having said that, I love the plane and the sails guys are awesome.

Re: G1000 Data issues
Are you using a 32 Gbyte SD Card (e.g., a Garmin "-50" card) to upload files to the G1000 NXi panel? The first DA62s with NXi (including mine) were erroneously delivered from the Austrian factory (and then Canada) with only 8 Gbyte cards, and that caused multiple errors because all the NXi files did not fit on the card.
And as I'm sure you know, loading databases on NXi is very different from "legacy" G1000s: You insert only a single SD Card with all databases into the MFD lower slot, all the files get automatically loaded into both the PFD and MFD internal memory as part of the synchronization process, and then you remove the SD Card. But new databases stored in G1000 memory don't become active (i.e., from standby to active) until you restart the G1000 NXi. You normally fly around with no cards installed in the panel (unless you want to put another SD Card into the top MFD slot to log all of your flight data -- that function is the same as on most legacy G1000s.)

Re: G1000 Data issues
Dave. Thank you for the input. I have been using the 2G card they gave me for Garmin charts. I use a 16G card for the Jeppsen gps stuff. I will try a larger card next to see if the problem goes away.
Take care

Re: G1000 Data issues
Hi Perry, you might try this number for Garmin support 866 739 5687. I find it always works for me and the folks on the other end are always helpful.

Re: G1000 Data issues
Hello All. An update. I talked with Garmin and they do recommend 4GB cards. I am not sure, but it looks like the 2GB and 16 GB don't do the job. Also, on my way back from the factory in London last week, I found out that the 2 GB card that came with the plane is for upper slot if you want to record any data and not Garmin. BTW, I had to call Garmin 3 times to get someone who know NXI and didn't mislead me.
