Regarding FAA AD 2017-15-09 8/1/2017 Engine Exhaust
and "Install engine exhaust pipe clamps with spring washers"
I purchased N742SA (2008 DA42TDI with 2.0 engines) with this AD complied with.
My question is - are any of you DA42 owners using a "DA service center" to comply with the repetitive 25 hour inspection (following modification) or are you using a local maintenance shop to do this inspection? (My closest DA service center is 45 minute flight away from my base).
I'm very surprised at the repetitive 25 hour ongoing inspection requirement - or am I reading this AD wrong?
Thanks for your inputs.
John

N742SA also has the exhaust mod requiring inspection every 50 hours........anyone else have a DA42TDI with the "new" exhaust/"pipe clamps with spring washers" ??

Re: DA42 Exhaust clamp AD and the "25 hour inspection" following compliance
We are doing the 25 hour locally. No choice for us really (flight school plane). We just installed the new washers yesterday on one side. Mechanics think it is more secure, yet flexible than before.
Checked into getting the new pipes from Technify...cost for all parts is just under $3,000 (for both engines) and moves inspection interval to 50 hour, not sure that is worth it,
If they had a 100 hour option, we definitely be interested, but alas, no.

Thanks for the update - our plane is 5 hours from the mandatory inspection, following the spring washer installation - I'll post the results once the inspections are completed on the two brackets.
I heard that the new exhaust pipes arn't available yet?! I would be interested in installing them also if/when they go to 100 hour inspection.
