Tablet Mount

Post by ultraturtle »

There is a Temporary Revision to the Maintenance Manual that refers to OÄM-42-248 "Provisions for Tablet Mount":
http://support.diamond-air.at/fileadmin ... 42-248.pdf

I cannot find any other reference to it. What little the document reveals is that it is sized for an iPad mini, and it installs somewhere near the armrest:

Placard:
TABLET MOUNT:

- SIZE MAX.: 255mm BY 200mm (10,03" BY 7.87")
- WEIGHT MAX:: 1.1 kg(2.43 lb)
- INTERCONNECTING ARM LENGTH MAX.: 76.2 mm (3”)

Optional, on the arm rest next to the mounting base
Does anyone know where I can get more information about it to include a purchase source?

Rob:

Welcome to the DAN forum!

For the DA62, Diamond recently made available tablet mounts located on the A-pillars, but the DA42 with a bubble canopy doesn't have A-pillars. I, too, could not find anything more about DA42 tablet mounts.

My suggestion would be to contact Diamond Canada and see if they can supply additional information:

Good call, Dave. I just got this from Frank Lemaire, Diamond Technical Services Specialist:
Good morning Robert, the tablet mount is part of the armrest. In reviewing the drawings it appears that the canopy arm rests would have to be replaced with new ones that contain the ball type mount.

... I’ve been advised that a service bulletin is in draft form with our parent company and should be out at some point in the 3 - 4 weeks. I should have pricing available shortly thereafter.
Please note that I was incorrect in my interpretation of dimensions on the original post. It will accomodate a tablet slightly larger than the full size iPad (not the larger Pro).
