Dear all,

We are facing precisely the same issue Simon described in the original post. Stall warning on a DA42 works fine on the ground but not in the air.

Any idea of the possible reasons ?

Simon, how did you end up fixing the issue ?

Thanks a lot !

Is this possibly the answer in section 4A.6.24 STALLS (from the Rev. 6 18 Aug 10 D42L-AFM-002)

STALL WARNING MAY NOT BE PRESENT DURING POWER ON STALLS WITH A FORWARD CENTRE OF GRAVITY.

Thanks Scott for your answer !

I don't think it is the case as the issue appeared during power off stalls.

One very experienced DA42 technician suggested replacing the buzzer as it is cheap and it can sometimes work intermittently

When the stall heater went out, I did not get a stall warning. But, I never tested it on the ground. I did get a STAL HT FAIL in flight. This is different from the STAL HT OFF notice that is always lit while the plane is on the ground (because of the squat switch), but goes off once the nose gear is lifted off the ground. If the squat switch detecting the nose gear on the ground is not ?closing then you should still see the STAL HT OFF light while in the air and that may disconnect the stall horn from sounding. I'm just speculating here.
Squat switches are on the front of the main gear. IIRC left is to prevent gear from retracting on the ground, right is for stall warner heat.
