Damage history impact on value
There is a DA40 on controller that has extensive damage history. Repairs were 16 years ago so I am not concerned about airworthiness and I plan to use it for flight training. Thoughts on impact on the value? I know the market is crazy high right now. Asking is at VREF without consideration for the DH. I plan to buy a DA40 and be active in the forums. Thanks in advance. https://www.controller.com/listing/for- ... e-aircraft

Re: Damage history impact on value
At this point the market is so tight (i.e., demand far exceeding supply for new and used Diamonds), that prices of used aircraft have all escalated -- VREF values are barely keeping up. If you can find a DA40 in good condition at an acceptable price, then consider buying it.
Damage history 16 years ago doesn't matter very much, especially if you plan on putting the plane in a flight school where it's likely going to suffer from abuse.
