I noted this area of discoloration at the smaller opening on the starboard side fuel vent. Anyone else seeing this? Any cause for concern? It is a new NG.
Thanks,
Stephan

Re: Fuel Vent Discoloration
Not exactly the same (I have a DA40, so Avgas), but occasionally after topping off fuel, I will have a blue stain on the starboard vent as well. My vents are slightly different in appearance than yours, but I suspect that the cause is the same - expansion of the fuel leading to a small overflow out of the vent. I check these fairly frequently, both to make sure there are no blockages from insects, and to clean off the dye stains, which become more persistent as time goes by...

Re: Fuel Vent Discoloration
Every DA40/DA42/DA62 will vent fuel out the right side tanks if you fill them all the way to the top. So nothing to worry about.

Re: Fuel Vent Discoloration
"Every" is such a strong word:
Disclosure: Though I often depart with full tanks I usually do not leave the plane parked with full tanks. But it does happen on occasion. Most recently about a week ago, I refueled the day before participating in a Young Eagles event. Very hot days. In any case I can't recall ever having fuel come out these vents in 19 years.
I could see 50-gallon DA40's being prone to this, given the positioning of the filler caps and outer cells relative to the vents.

Re: Fuel Vent Discoloration
Sorry, I meant every DA40/42/62 with extended range tanks in the wings — which is just about every one since 2007.
