Emergency Window Seal

Post by Roxi5m9 »

Hey Everyone. Been noticing lately that the emergency window on my DA40 is getting a pretty good hissing noise due to the seal. If i press on the window or cover it with a small piece of tinted sun shade sheet the peaceful quite is such a relief. Any info/advice/ experience on replacing the seal on this? I’m hoping someone has successfully bonded a small rubber seal to this very nicely sealing it off. The Maint Manual really mentions nothing about the seal.

If you are talking about the vent window, Diamond sells replacement seal for it, albeit in large quantities, enough to do like 10 vents or something.

That's OK. It'll take you 10 tries to get it right - says one who has been there.

Mine doesn't have a seal, never did. No leakage either...

In the case of part of the seal being missing it's possible that removing the entire seal, being careful to remove all remnants, will work just fine. The lower air pressure outside pulls it closed against the canopy.

Rich, guess I better order two rolls considering how mechanically inclined I am. 😂

I think Ill try the “just remove the whole damn seal” method.

Or maybe ill just tape it shut with a thick roll of gorilla tape.
