The bulbs I installed had this part number: L24V-WB-W. They were a major improvement over the incandescent ones. A search for the same part number turns up bulbs that look different from the ones I have but the socket is the same so I assume they would work. The ones I have look like this:

This one in the picture would not fit my fixtures. They are wedge bases. The part number above would work

This is the incandescent bulb used in these lights, next to a USB-C plug for scale:

I think you're right, I searched for the PN on my invoice for those bulbs and that's what came up that looked the most similar to my recollection, i.e. with LEDs all around and on the top. But the socket is a wedge, as you indicate.

This is the description on my invoice: "T 3 1/4 WEDGE 24V WHITE; Lamp Base Type:Wedge; LED Color:White; Power Rating:720mW; Bulb Size:T-3 1/4; Supply Voltage:24V; Current Rating:30mA; Beam Angle:360ø; Average Bulb Life:100000h; Luminous Flux:2.8lm"

What comes up on the same vendor's web site for this PN is different but I think it would work just as well, and it seems to consume half as much electricity as the ones I have for the same lumen output, and they are bipolar while mine aren't. Call it progress.

I received all the stuff from Diamond And there's the good news and the bad news. But first another detail. The part numbers for both the boots and the fixtures have been superseded from those in the IPC with new part numbers (and prices):

P/N DAI-9033-00-01 has superseded to D60-3313-11-00_01 is $684.28 ETA 10/2/2020 Map light Assy
P/N DA4-2589-90-01 has superseded to DA4-3313-11-01 $46.43 in stock. Hood, map light

Good news:

1. The Rubber boots fit the old fixtures fine, subject to 3., below.
2. The new part for the map light assembly is sealed, it does not require, nor can it use, the boots.
3. The new map light assembly has a built-on LED array, rather than incandescent.
4. The new map light is really bright. It'd be harder to forget to turn it off.
5. I was able to make the new map light fixture mount OK with some fiddling.

Bad news:
1. I bought an LED lamp I can't use. :(
2. I bought 3 boots when I can only use 2. :(
3. Fitting the boots on the old fixtures is compromised by all the RTV goop they put in there. I had to spend lots of time removing it. Normally this kind of stuff doesn't really bond real strongly, but whatever this is has great affinity for the light fixture and the plenum structure :scream:
4. The new map light fixture outer dimensions are too large to fit into the recess created for the original ones. So it's surface mounted in my plane. This isn't all that desirable but it wouldn't be too bad except the mounting system it has is not quite suitable for the original plenum-mount profile. I cobbled a fix or replacing the 3 mounting screws (3x20 mm) with slightly longer ones (3x25mm) from Ace Hardware.

$684 for a map light. Yikes! I think I'll try to keep repairing my originals...

The one it replaced was not really repairable. A piece of the actuator arm had broken off and disappeared. I'm in no hurry to replace the other two. :D

I have a similar issue with the rectangular panel vents on our vintage DA40s. Both of mine have broken and I've repaired them, but JB Weld only works for so long. I didn't even price them from Diamond. While I had the copilot one out recently for a fix, I got the P/N and tried out my Google-fu. It turns out that the vent is actually a European truck part and a parts supplier in Slovakia was able to locate a couple for me. About 70 Euros for 2 of them, plus shipping. I haven't received them yet, but I'm hopeful...

I did the same thing with one of mine. I repaired it but also ordered one from Diamond. The design has changed - internally. I don't recall it being outrageously expensive, though I can't seem to find record of the actual amount.

Hi guys,

As I told you already, the map light are carry over from Renault car of year 1990's....... If you look on the old map light you may see the old logo of renault on it.
Easy to find as spare for 40$ in France.
It's exactly the same part, but you will have to re-use the boot that is not existing in the car installation.

If you need some guys, feel free to ask me to buy and send them to you.

Arnaud.
