In WOT position.
When it fires, from WOT to idle quickly
I don't use WOT. Just the normal 1/2" or so cracked throttle.

Ok. I will try. What do you mean by « cracked throttle »?
Thanks

Not fully closed i.e. open a little bit, as with normal starting. BTW, when the throttle is pushed full forward there is extra fuel enrichment added.

A mix of what astaib and Rich said, I do all my hot starts with no priming, the throttle half open, mixture full lean, and then I throttle back when it fires. Never had a backfire that way.

I once had a backfire when I used the cold start procedure (with priming) while the engine was still warm.

I use the technique in the POH. For cold starts the throttle is 1 cm open, for hot starts, it is 3 cm open. For the past 12 years, I've been using the oil door brace I made:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4102&p=43728&hilit=oil+door#p43728

when I park in situations where the engine could possibly heat soak the fuel lines. Hot starts are much easier now...
