Sirius Radio .. volume

Sirius radio - While cruising I enjoy the radio but the volume is VERY weak despite setting the volume on the MSD to max. Also have Lightspeed Zulu headphones which I turn up all the way ( adjusting comm radio dow a bit)

But I still can't get the volume to a satisfactory level and always have one weaker channel.

Any tricks to improve results ... I'm about to cancel if I can't resolve it

Thanks

Mine is plenty loud. I'm suspecting there is a G1000 configuration setting for the XM boost level, but don't know for sure.

There is a configuration setting for the relative music volume in the headset, but I wonder why anyone would have changed it? Something to look at, anyhow - and possibly try boosting to see if it helps.

Every time I get my G1000 serviced by a shop, these settings are re-set to the lowest level. It seems to be some kind of default.

I've gotten in the habit of always asking any A&P who touches the G1000 to be sure to get in there and make sure they're turned all the way back up before they log out. They do not appear to be user serviceable.

While the G1000 configuration settings are not intended to be user serviceable, they are pretty easy to change, just make sure not to accidentally change any other settings. The G1000 maintenance manual in the Wiki has the procedure to access the config pages (section 3.4).

This may seem obvious to some, but where is the Wiki located?

To boot G1000 or NXi into Maintenance Mode:
1. Pull the circuit breakers for the PFD and MFD
2. Turn on the Electric Master to power up the plane (you're going to want to have a GPU connected to avoid running down the battery)
3. While holding down the Enter key on the MFD, push in the MFD circuit breaker (release after text shows on MFD screen)
4. While holding down the Enter key on the PFD, push in the PFD circuit breaker (release after text shows on PFD screen)

Then on the PFD, use the FMS knobs to navigate to the GMA CONFIGURATION page to see the Headset Volume MUSIC levels (see Rick's photo above)

Easiest way to find it from here is to click on the "Diamond Aviators.net" logo in the upper left corner of the page, then you will see 'Wiki' at the end of the main menu.

The volumes all reset when the system software is updated and restoring them is often overlooked. Not sure why you’d be getting constant updates though, they haven’t released new software in years.

I may have just hit a nerve there. :p
