Why I love my DA40

Post by Lou »

These photos were taken today as I flew back after getting my annual: 150kts, peak EGT, 9.9 gph. Awesome. I get this pretty consistently. We often post about ownership challenges, so it’s good to remember the good parts.

It’s a late spring up here, as you can see.

Excellent!

Flying at peak EGT with 15xx EGT, WOT and 2450 RPM is not harmful fut the engine, especially this EGT? Even at this altitude?

I watch the CHT’s. They actually cool off at peak EGT. I can run a hair on the LOP side sometimes, just not today. The famous “hotbox” is quite evident in the 0-75 ROP environment.
