Those wiring diagrams in the AMM
I sometimes need to refer to these diagrams for some basic information. Today I was trying to figure out how it is, if the essential bus tie breaker trips (we've discussed that problem interminably), that you don't get a low voltage warning popping up. I still don't have a good answer to that question.
In the process I spent considerable time winnowing out JUST the diagrams that apply to my plane. This amounts to about half of the ones numbered "DA4-...". I could eliminate the stuff for other transponders, nav-comms, VFR-only, euipment I do not have and so forth, but still have a couple of sets with the same document numbers, differing content, but am not sure about which applies. The differences are fairly small, so this is not a big deal. In any case it greatly streamlines the process of finding the diagrams I'm looking for.
I need to mark up a couple of these and maybe add diagrams to account for changes to the plane, such as LED wingtip lights, aux power removed for USB power, etc.

Rich:
I have struggled with those schematics for many years as well. I eventually put stickies on the ones that apply to my individual aircraft, and that (marginally) speeds up finding the one I want at the time, but it is still a pain. As in your situation I haven't corrected them for added equipment (XeVision lights, CO guardian carbon monoxide detector, AcK E-04 ELT, GDL 82 ADS-B, etc).
I was thinking of trying to scan in the applicable ones for my aircraft, and cut and paste them together into one giant schematic that I could move around and zoom in and out as necessary, but I am graphically challenged...
It would be difficult to do that anyway, since the individual pages often have numerous circuits that connect to other pages. I'll ask my brother, who is an electrical engineer, if he knows of any available software solution.

Re: Those wiring diagrams in the AMM
Here’s my approach:
Using the listing at the front as a guide, I listed the entire set of pages (page numbers as depicted in Acrobat reader) that I figured applied and printed them out. Then I did a sweep through those paper pages, realizing some of those were not applicable or redundant I tossed them. I will mark up a couple as required and scan the lot in as a single PDF for subsequent use. I have an advantage as decades ago I used to create and use drawing sets like this for a living.

Re: Those wiring diagrams in the AMM
I am currently going through the same exercise. I am getting ready to install a Garmin GDL-88 and Flightstream 210 to my legacy DA40. Complicating the issue I have a TAS-600 and Aspen EFD-1000 installed and have to integrate those too. It's giving me a pretty big headache.

Re: Those wiring diagrams in the AMM
I'll be doing the Flightstream shortly. Since ADS-B isn't currently part of that equation for me, it'll be pretty simple. But I'll be shopping for a good software package to do electrical diagrams to provide updates for this and some other mods I have.Lance Murray wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 12:49 am I am currently going through the same exercise. BTW, one of the External Wiring Diagrams in the AMM does cover the XID lighting wiring. And it's applicable enough to cover the Orion mod I have.

Re: Those wiring diagrams in the AMM
The diagram for the Slick Start has 2 errors that I know of. There is likely a 3rd which would impact Surefly installation as a replacement for the right mag if true and one didn't know about it. I'll check it out in the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, see if you can identify the 2 obvious errors.

Re: Those wiring diagrams in the AMM
In preparing for the installation of a Surefly ignition, I came up with a marked-up version of the Slick Start wiring diagram reflecting the current reality of my aircraft. The red-ish lines indicate removal from the diagram, the green are additions/replacements. Together they show the corrections for Slick Start ignitions with Slick mags.

Rich:
You must have done Slick SB1-06A which changed the grounding function for the right magneto during Start from the Slick Start unit itself to a jumper on the ignition switch:

Re: Those wiring diagrams in the AMM
It's more interesting (and mysterious) than that. My SS failed in 2011 and the replacement unit no longer actually has a terminal #2. But prior to that there was nothing connected to terminal #2, as I recall. And there is no record in the logbooks noting any modifications to comply with this SB. Yet the extra wire is indeed connected to the right mag p-lead, with no clue as to where the other end is. Though I have looked I can't find where it was cut off. The tentative conclusion is they did this at the factory. I'll dig some more when we do the SF installation, as we probably want both mags appropriately "hot" during the start.
Edit: I found an entry in the SB (Background Information), indicating it was standard practice in the last to not use this pin. This SB only covers removal of the pin from the SS to avoid inadvertently connecting to it.
The other gross error is that the diagram incorrectly shows grounding of the right mag when selecting right mag to run and similarly wrong for the left mag.

Re: Those wiring diagrams in the AMM
Rich: Mine definitely came from the factory with pin 2 present and connected. I did the SB myself during the Annual Inspection in 2006:
You can see where I put the wire cap, and cut off pin #2.
