Thomas, Rich- I think the detents were set to the maximum at the annual, but I'll check. Thanks for your advice. Bernie

@ Rich … that`s sounds like false installation of the governor shop. How was the low RPM limit then? must have been also too low?

@ Bernie, in my opinion…. the simple adjustment of the detent … you can do yourself … you just need basic tools … securing paint … and one or two engine full PWR run up`s … (but this is my personal opinion…after 40 years of aircraft maintenance :scratch: - the old fashion way starting with DC-9 without software bringing planes down :( )

This is the way it was delivered new by Diamond. The shop essentially confirmed it was operating according to bench-test specs and did not tweak this particular adjustment. We did it on the plane. Low RPM hasn't ever been a problem. I have an MT prop so that might have something to do with it. Note there is also the possibility that the adjustment of the flat pitch limit in the prop itself could be off.

When the oil is cold my prop will go slightly past 2700 RPM at full throttle during takeoff, so I ease back the prop setting slightly when this happens

We didn't ask the first question we should have: "Has it always been this way or is this a change?"

And lastly, the IO-360-M1A is rated at 160 HP at 2400 RPM, not 2500. This according to the Lycoming manual.
