I didn't think so. They looked straightforward to me. Far less stuff to deal with than the Electroair.

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition
Is S.F. limited to keeping one mag like the electroair?

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition
Yes. You can see why. Dead electrical system = dead ignition. In our case, it's also not clear where to connect the tach sense lead if the right mag is removed.

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition
Advanced timing is now available per Application Guide on the SureFly website and verbal confirmation over the phone. Mine will arrive tomorrow and I’m planning to have it installed next month during the annual.

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition
I was so close to having a a SureFly mag installed. I thought the left mag had an impulse coupler so I bought the SureFly mag to replace a left mag with an impulse coupler. It turns out my DA 40 does have any impulse couplers. I have to return the unit I have and wait for a different SureFly mag to come in.

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition
We mostly have Slick Start, with maybe a few LASAR systems. Notice the absence of the snap sound when rotating the prop.Scottsware wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 8:41 pm I was so close to having a a SureFly mag installed. Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition
The Left Mags in our aircraft have a set of 'retard' points which are selected when the key is in the Start position. This retards the timing to basically TDC, reducing the chance of kickback with the low RPM of a starter-turned engine. I'm not how the SureFly would provide retarded timing for starting...Rich wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 12:38 amwe have Slick Start, with maybe a few LASAR systems.Scottsware wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 8:41 pm I was so close to having a a SureFly mag installed. Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition
Does it based on RPM. All documented on their site.Steve wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 12:49 amThe Left Mags in our aircraft have a set of 'retard' points which are selected when the key is in the Start position.
